Show Notes

What am I grateful for this year? So many things! It’s good to take some time each day and think about and express what you are grateful for.  Feeling gratitude signals to the body that everything is okay, and it is safe to rest and digest.  Which is important for Thanksgiving meals, am I right?! So I tried something different this week, I spoke off the cuff, with just a few notes instead of a prepared message. It’s genuine and from the heart.  I love you guys! Have a listen, and I hope you are grateful too, even though things are never perfect. Have a great holiday!  No Thursday interview this week, but we’ve got a great one tee’d for next week.

[00:00:00] Speaker A: Foreign. [00:00:11] Speaker B: What's worthwhile healing Mind, body and spirit. I'm Ramsey Zimmerman. I choose peace of mind, vitality of body, and joy of spirit over stress, exhaustion, or overwhelm. Together, let's explore and pursue the many ways to build holistic health and wellness. [00:00:31] Speaker C: Hey there. [00:00:32] Speaker D: It's Ramsey here. [00:00:34] Speaker E: It's Thanksgiving week as I'm recording this. I'm not going to post a discussion on Thursday, I decided, but I do have one teed up for next week. I am trying something different today. You know, I usually pre script these messages and then perform them into the microphone, but today I am just talking. All right, fine. I do have a few notes that. [00:01:00] Speaker C: I'm following, but wanted to do something. [00:01:03] Speaker E: Different, wanted to see how it was. I want to. [00:01:06] Speaker C: This week, in the spirit of Thanksgiving, I want to express my gratitude and I also want to encourage you to do the same. Either, you know, reach out directly and express thanks and gratitude to the people in your life or even just, you know, record it in whatever the way. [00:01:30] Speaker E: That you have, whether you like to. [00:01:31] Speaker C: Write or whether you like to talk into a microphone, whatever it is that you do. But I think it's important. It's valuable and it's. It's healthy. It's good for us to feel that gratitude and to express it. [00:01:46] Speaker E: But, you know, I really also don't want this recording to sound like one of those cliche Academy Award acceptance speeches. So I'm not going to drop names and do all that stuff that feels like it would be a bit much, going to try to express my gratitude and that somehow, I don't know, feels different. [00:02:12] Speaker F: Let's get started. [00:02:17] Speaker D: First and foremost, I'm grateful for my family, for my wife and kids and parents and cat and dog and all of the members of my extended family. Again, I'm not going to list you out, but you know who you are. [00:02:33] Speaker G: Sometimes I'm really good about keeping in touch with my family and sometimes not. Sometimes I'm not that one who reaches out that much. And sorry about that. I do appreciate everybody. [00:02:49] Speaker D: I'm also appreciative of my friends. The same thing I've had have a lot of friends. I've had a lot of friends over the years. And I hope that I can still claim all of my old friends as friends because that's certainly what I feel inside and what I'd like to do. If I haven't heard from you in a long time, if I haven't reached out to you in a long time, know that I still care. Old friends, new friends, are great virtual friends too. We got a lot of friends these days that I've met online through my podcast, through my website, and haven't ever met you in person. That is weird for someone of my generation, but is also awesome. Love to have lots of people that I know around the world in different places. I'm grateful to have a home, to be at home, to have a place to to live and to stay and all of the things my my home is my work, it's my workshop, it's my refuge, it's where I come home and relax and it's where I get things done and I just never don't want to ever take it for granted that have an awesome place to do that. I also am grateful for my church. We get a chance to get together, we have a place to worship, a place to gather, and it's just a really great place to be together with other believers and we all get to be grateful and thankful to God and all of his blessings, all of the many things that he does in our lives, all of the ways that we within community can live and worship together. I'm also grateful and thankful for my work. I've had a lot of different positions over the years. I've been a part of many different organizations. I've had a lot of projects to work on. I'm grateful for each and every one of those and I'm grateful for all the colleagues that I've worked with over the years, all the times when I've had opportunities to accomplish things, to work together. I don't have any regrets about the work that I've done over the years. Hasn't always worked out great and hasn't always been easy. It's always been challenging and sometimes it's been difficult. Occasionally it gets downright ugly. But had many things to do over the years and now these days I'm working mostly with myself and my company, with the podcast and the book that I recently published and the program that I'm getting ready to release soon. Grateful to have all of those opportunities. [00:05:40] Speaker F: Do you feel exhausted before your day even starts? [00:05:42] Speaker H: Or do you struggle to balance demanding work and family with everything else? Do you wonder how to say no without guilt or set boundaries when everyone needs things from you? Does burnout feel inevitable no matter how. [00:05:53] Speaker C: Hard you try to push through? [00:05:55] Speaker H: Then check out my new book on Amazon, Stress Response. Manage your response to stress in order to reduce anxiety, Avoid burnout, and find calm and steady focus. Now available on Amazon. [00:06:06] Speaker D: Com I'm also just grateful for my health and my fitness and strength, the ability to make it through the day and feel good. I had a weird week last week and lots of brain fog and didn't really know. It's funny because I. All of my work has to do with thoughts, right? I have a brain job and so when I. My thinking gets fuzzy, it's very disturbing, upsetting to me. But it came back, it came on strong. I'm feeling good again and I just really appreciate that and I appreciate all of you. I appreciate the audience, I appreciate people who listen to what I have to say on the podcast. I appreciate everybody who has and gotten a chance to read my book Stress Response. Would love it if you would take the time to post a rating and a review on Amazon so that we can help get the word out about that book. Just really grateful that I have the chance to express myself, to talk about the things that are important to me and that I care about. And we just can't take for granted the ability to say out loud what we think. We need to think for ourselves. We need to do our own research. We need to go out and find the real answers and understand the truth as well as we can possibly understand it and share it with others. And we need to do that. And we need to get as many perspectives and hear from as many people what they think and what they understand to be the truth. I appreciate that we have those opportunities here in America. Anyways, I am grateful. And I. I do not feel like I have arrived in many ways, like I'm still. Still working through many different things. But I think that's life. Life is all about the journey. [00:08:16] Speaker G: And as I look ahead towards the. [00:08:19] Speaker D: Holidays and into the new year, what I really want is to connect with more people and hear more people's stories and share my own story. [00:08:29] Speaker G: And if you're out there, if you're. [00:08:32] Speaker D: Listening, if you're struggling, I want to hear from you. [00:08:37] Speaker G: I want to walk with you through that journey. [00:08:40] Speaker D: The last couple of years, I've been on a journey of my own and. [00:08:43] Speaker G: That has included a bunch of training to become a nutritional therapy practitioner. And I'm ready and willing and excited to share what I've learned. So hope to hear from you more. I hope you're having a great day and be appreciative and grateful of what you have. Even if it's hard, even if it's difficult, even if you feel like you need a lot more. [00:09:10] Speaker D: It's important to be grateful for that baseline because we've got what we've got. And we're moving ahead. And for today, that is enough. [00:09:25] Speaker F: Looking for more?
