[00:00:00] What's worthwhile? Worth our time and attention? Worth building our life around in terms of our daily habits, eating, drinking, sleeping, reading, listening and believing. There are so many competing voices giving advice, giving orders, telling us how it is, how to live, how to think, and even what to think. What's worthwhile? What will feed us, protect us, empower us, heal us, or at least make us feel better? We all want to feel better. But modern options? Do they really make us feel better? Or do they just make us feel something? Or maybe make us feel less, numb us out, dull the symptoms distract us, redirect our attention to some shiny object or some objectionable person or act to make us feel outrage and thereby forget for a moment how we already felt lousy. And why? And what's really wrong? And what? And who is really maybe to blame for why everything is wrong? So many questions, so many potential answers. What's worthwhile? I found an answer for me. Maybe it will resonate with you. You'll need to answer this big question for yourself. Of course. I've found that what's worthwhile for me is building mind, body, and spirit. Wellness. What do I mean by wellness? Wellness is the opposite of illness or disease. Wellness is the natural and proper state of health and well being. With and through increased wellness comes the alleviation and reduction and relief from symptoms increasing. Wellness is addressing the root causes of ailments and their symptoms, as opposed to treating or masking symptoms. I believe mind, body and spirit are distinct but interconnected. Mind refers to what we think, consider, learn, and decide. Body is what we physically maneuver and sense and experience.
[00:01:51] Spirit is what we feel, believe, intuit, and discern. Each of us is mind, body and spirit individually, and we interact with each other, our environments, and the natural world with all three. We feed them, we use them, we tap their energy, and we charge it up again. I think our goal ought to be peace of mind, vitality of body, and joy of spirit. Peace of mind. How do we find peace in our minds? And what would that be like? All these discordant messages in our world today, all these contradictions, cognitive dissonance, conflicting worldviews, alternative facts, and straight up fake news. They are the opposite of peace of mind. Peace is the lack of conflict. It is the quieting of previously shouting voices. It is the winning out of love over fear. It is the finding and embracing of truth. It is the relief of speaking truth instead of accepting or spreading false narratives. There are many ways to seek peace of mind. Many practices which I hope to soon explore, vitality, of body. Why do we feel so tired all of the time? Especially when we're sitting in our chairs, working on our computers all day? And then when it's time to go to bed, we can't sleep, can't wind down, can't stop thinking about all the things we've done, all the things we've missed, and all that we still need to do. Vitality is energy, vigor, strength. Vitality is the drive to run, jump and play that maybe we haven't felt since we were young kids. The feeling you could climb a tree to the top limb, jump into the water, and swim clear across to the other side, run and tag your friend, giggling hysterically all day till the sun went down. Do you remember feeling like that? Have you ever felt that way? Can you even imagine it? I can. I want to. I want to recapture that vitality of body from my youth and never let it go again. There are ways to do it. We will explore them. Joy of spirit here in America, we have a long tradition of the pursuit of happiness. Are we really happy, though? Perhaps for moments at a time? Happiness comes and goes. But what if joy was our constant spiritual state of being? Joy is knowing that you are loved. Joy is knowing that you were made for a purpose, that you are part of a larger picture, that you are interconnected to other people, to the animals and plants in nature, to your creator. Real joy can never be taken away by things like fortune, circumstances, traffic, or the weather. We are more than our bodies, more even than our thoughts. Our spirit is our essence, what makes us us. There is truth, and there are answers and ways to find joy in our spirits. I can't wait to walk that path with you. Please join me on this journey and on this path.
