[00:00:11] Speaker A: What's worthwhile? It's a question we all need to answer for ourselves. I'm Ramsay Zimmerman. As for me, it's building mind, body, and spirit wellness. Let's ponder the big questions together as we seek peace of mind, vitality of body, and joy of spirit.
[00:00:37] Speaker B: Hey there, it's Ramsay here. As I was running today, I caught someone's eye. They had this look. It got me thinking. I wanted to say something to them, but didn't get the chance. So if that was you pushing through a tough time, here is some encouragement. And if not, well, maybe this message will hit home. Anyways, hi. I saw you today exercising. You looked good, strong, determined. But you were gritting your teeth, eyes down. Was it just with effort or something more? I wanted to encourage you, gave you a lame thumbs up as you went by, and you waved with a pained smile. I actually stopped, looked back. You were already down the street. But would I have said you're what, mid thirties? I'm 50 ish. So I've got a few years on you. First off, great job at going after it. You're out here running, putting in the miles, the effort. Even though I feel like you're struggling with it a bit. Good. It's hard, but it's worth it. The run, your life, your work, your family, all of it. It's worth it. Even though it's hard. Sometimes the struggle is real, but it makes you stronger. You need it. And other people need you. They need you to be you. A strong version of yourself, maybe the best version of yourself. I don't say that to put pressure on you. I say it because it is true and good. Your family, your friends, your coworkers and customers, all of them benefit from you and the strong, healthy version of you. But it's not always easy, though, right? Some days you don't want to do it, don't want to train, don't want to work, don't want to be disciplined, maybe not even get out of bed. I feel you. Me, too. And some days you blow it. That's okay. There's always another chance, another opportunity. You know what? Every day you push through it, get out of bed, splash cold water, do your thing. It gets a little easier. You get a little stronger. Build that habit, that muscle, that discipline. You got to watch out for the easy way out, the quick fix. The world is going to tell you you should get it now. Have it now. Take this pill or buy this thing or have that delivered, and it will be okay again. Things are confusing now, aren't they feels like the whole world kind of stopped making sense. A few years ago. Covid hit. Your kids were real young. It was scary. People were getting sick. People were dying. Or they were just super worried about getting sick. We were wearing masks. People were telling each other we had to wear masks, put them on our little kids. Come on. Kids only wear masks for dress up. They ripped them off, pick their noses, and eat dirt off the ground. That's what we did when we were kids. Right? Okay, maybe not. Our parents told us not to or discouraged it, or at least rolled their eyes. Parents want the best for their kids. You want them to be safe and healthy and happy. Masking them up didn't feel right. And all of these needles, shots, are they helping or making things worse? But here's the good news. In 2024, some of that fog has cleared. We have choices again. And the ability to make some decisions, take some actions, big and small. You can vote. This year, we've got three choices for president who represent very different future outlooks. You can go where you want, travel, eat out, spend time face to face with family and friends. Who ever thought five years ago that those simple things would be so precious? Maybe things are looking up. I want you to hope, to believe that better times are possible, that we can get there. I bet that may be hard for you. In your lifetime. You've seen a lot of decline, Covid. Wasn't the first time you saw things go sideways. Maybe your family really struggled in 2008 when the economy crashed. Maybe that was something your parents had to deal with. More so than you. But even that wasn't the first time. No. You've known that things can go horribly wrong ever since you watched those airplanes fly into buildings and then watch the buildings fall down. You were a kid. We kind of all were. But that was war. We've been at war ever since. The bullets and bombs and drone strikes have all been overseas in foreign lands. So far. Could it come here again? Across our border? Maybe something to worry about here at home. It isn't really peaceful though, right? Plenty of wars of words, clashes of ideas, power struggles between ways of thinking, lifestyles, beliefs. Seems like everyone has taken his side. Maybe for protection. Doesn't seem right. Or healthy. I'm sorry. This wasn't supposed to be a downer. I'm trying to encourage you, build you up. This is your time. You are free and empowered to make decisions, take actions, build yourself and others. Build mind, body, and spirit. Wellness. Think about it. Do the research, take the time, evaluate sources, make decisions that truly represent your informed consent. Treat your body well. Fill it with nutritious, delicious whole foods and vitamins. Get out into the sun and sweat and hydrate afterwards. Engage your spirit. Seek God. I don't know where you're at with the whole spirituality thing, but I'll tell you what I believe. God loves you. He knows you and wants you to know him. Seek and you shall find. If you've drifted away, it's never too late to come back. God will embrace you with open arms. Respond to your cries. All three of these things, your mind, body, and spirit, they're all tied together, inextricably linked. The best way, maybe the only way, to be truly healthy and well, is to pursue all three peace of mind, vitality of body, and joy of spirit. I saw you out there today, making the effort, fighting the good fight. You were struggling a bit, but that's good. That's progress. And for today, that's enough.
